Christmas is coming early this year with the Chairman of North East Derbyshire District Council organising a special festive market to support Ashgate Hospice.
The event is taking place at Chesterfield Football Club’s Technique Stadium on Saturday 27th November, between 10am and 3pm.
Councillor Martin Thacker MBE is supporting Ashgate after choosing the hospice as his charity of his civic year.
There will be a Santa’s Grotto, Chesterfield’s Male Voice Choir will be singing Christmas Carols, plus there will be a range of stalls selling refreshments and gifts for everyone.
Councillor Thacker, who is also Vice-Chairman of Chesterfield Football Club and Director of Chesterfield Football Community Trust, has already raised thousands for Ashgate after organising a host of fundraisers throughout the year.
He said: “I’m delighted to be able to continue my packed calendar of fundraising events to support Ashgate Hospice.
“Next up is a very special Christmas Market at Chesterfield Football Club taking place at the end of this month.
“From a Santas Grotto for the children to mulled wine for the adults and more – there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
“The event is free to attend so come along and enjoy a fantastic day out with the family whilst supporting such a wonderful local charity. I can’t wait to see you there!”
Other upcoming events organised by Councillor Thacker, with support from his Consort Jean Spencer, include:
Carl Jones, Fundraising Manager at Ashgate Hospice, said: “We really are so grateful to Councillor Thacker for holding fundraiser after fundraiser to support Ashgate during his year as Chairman.
“The Christmas Market he is organising to take place at Chesterfield Football Club sounds like it we will be a fun day out for all of the family – and a great opportunity to pick up a few festive gifts too!
“It’s been great working with him since he was elected earlier this year – his dedication to supporting us means we’ll be able to care for patients and their families when they need us most across North Derbyshire.”
