A singer from North Derbyshire has released a Christmas album to help fund care for families at Ashgate Hospice.
Sue Morgan has released her second album, Peace and Joy, which she hopes will raise funds for families this festive season.
The new record features a mix of traditional and modern seasonal music and includes covers of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’ and ‘I Wish it Could be Christmas Everyday’ by Wizzard.
Sue will be supporting Ashgate at several Christmas fairs and at a bag-packing fundraiser at Tesco in Chesterfield on 12th December, where she’ll be singing carols and songs from her album.
Sue, is also a member of Derbyshire singing group Peak Voices, who will be with her at Tesco’s and who feature on some of the tracks on the album, said: “During the periods of lockdown in the pandemic, at Peak Voices we managed to record and film songs which went on Facebook every week for people to enjoy.
“I enjoyed that experience so much so that I thought I would combine my desire to help Ashgate with continuing to record songs; now I have recorded two albums worth to raise funds for the hospice.
“It’s great feeling that in my small way I might be making a difference and helping such a worthwhile cause through my love of singing.”
Sue became inspired to support Ashgate Hospice once she moved to Derbyshire. She felt it was such a worthwhile cause and gave her the opportunity to give something back. She was able to meet and work with new people and utilise some of her life and employment skills to good effect.
As well as being a hospice fundraiser, Sue has also dedicated her time to volunteering and joined the hospice’s communications team in 2018.
