Ashgate Hospice > MSK Ingredients donate Pacojet which will make a huge difference to patients

A UK-wide company based in Chesterfield has donated an incredible piece of kitchen equipment that will make a huge difference to our patients.

MSK Ingredients, a supplier of specialist food ingredients, tools and training for the fine food and drink sector, have donated a Pacojet machine to us.

A Pacojet micro-purees deep-frozen foods into ultra-fine textures. The resulting food is like an extremely smooth and creamy ice cream texture. It can be used in all sorts of different ways to create sweet and savoury flavours.

The machine will be an amazing asset to our kitchen, allowing our Catering team to create dishes for patients who have difficulty eating and swallowing foods of normal consistency.

Our Head Chef, Mark Taylor, is very excited about the impact it will have on our patients.

Mark said: “It is unfortunately very common for patients to have little or no appetite when arriving at the hospice. Many struggle to chew food and have difficulty swallowing foods of normal consistency.

“The Pacojet will enable us to create incredibly finely blended foods that are tasty, nutritious and the correct consistency that also look appetising, whilst being easy to swallow enabling us to give a better more bespoke level of patient care.”

MSK Ingredients has saved the hospice over £4,000 by donating the Pacojet. The money saved by their wonderful donation will be redirected to patient care.

Thank you once again to MSK Ingredients for their truly generous gift. It will be something which our patients will greatly benefit from.
