Ashgate Hospice is an Outstanding hospice, as recognised last year by the Care Quality Commission. We were Outstanding then, and we remain Outstanding today. Care is at the heart of everything we do, and every staffing decision we make is guided by our commitment to safe, high-quality end of life care and the long-term sustainability of the hospice.
We are aware of recent coverage and the concerns that have been shared about staffing and care at the hospice. We want to be clear and transparent with our community.
Care at Ashgate remains safe, compassionate, and of the highest standard. Our Inpatient Unit continues to be staffed in line with recognised clinical standards, and nurse-to-patient ratios have not reduced. Care decisions are led by our senior clinical team, and we would not open or operate beds unless they can be staffed safely and consistently.
From time to time, we recruit new staff to ensure we can continue providing the care our patients need and respond to the evolving needs of the community we serve.
We are proud of the care we provide, the dedication of our staff and volunteers, and the support of our community. Every day, we focus on what matters most: Helping people live well, supporting those important to them, and being there when they need us most.
We are deeply grateful to our community for their continued support. Their generosity allows us to provide safe, compassionate, high-quality care to more people over the coming year.
