Every year, Ashgate Hospice cares for around 2,600 local people at the end of life, and the people important to them. From providing specialist nursing in people’s own homes to care on the ward, bereavement support, we are here when it matters most.
But NHS funding currently covers only around half the cost of the care we provide. Without fair and sustainable funding, the future of this vital care is at risk.
You can make a difference. By contacting Derby and Derbyshire Integrated Care Board (DDICB), you can help ensure Ashgate continues to provide expert care for generations to come.
“My mum and dad died side by side just days apart – everyone deserves care like they had.”
– Julie Whittaker
Every patient has a story. Every family has a journey. The care Ashgate provides makes these moments as comfortable and dignified as possible. By speaking up for fair NHS funding, you help make sure this care is there for everyone in North Derbyshire who needs it.
In South Derbyshire, specialist end of life care is fully funded by the NHS. In North Derbyshire, Ashgate must make up the shortfall through fundraising. We don’t think that is fair.
Your message to the DDICB shows decision-makers that our community values this care and refuses to let it be lost. Every email, letter, and story counts.
Ask Derby and Derbyshire Integrated Care Board (DDICB) to provide fair funding for Ashgate Hospice.

Dear [Name],
I am writing to urge you to provide fair and sustainable funding for Ashgate Hospice and the specialist end of life care they provide for patients in North Derbyshire. NHS funding currently covers only half the cost of this care.
Everyone in North Derbyshire deserves the same fully funded care as patients elsewhere in the county. I urge you to close this funding gap and ensure Ashgate can continue providing expert, compassionate care.
Thank you,
