Great North Run 2026

Do you want to be a part of the world’s largest half marathon? Would you like to challenge yourself whilst raising money for Ashgate Hospice at the same time? If so, you’re in the right place!

Join 60,000 other people and run the biggest and most iconic half marathon- the Great North Run. Famous for its warm North East welcome, you really will feel the community spirit whilst running the race.

If you would like to run for Ashgate Hospice, please register your interest via the link above. A member of the Events Team will then be in touch (once we know how many charity places we have been allocated) to let you know whether you have been successful in securing a place.

The allocation of a place will be decided on more than one factor, but it is likely that a successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a clear plan of how they will raise in excess of £500 in sponsorship (don’t worry, we’ve got a lot of inspiration to help you hit your target). You must be able to prove that at least £150 of your sponsorship money has been raised two weeks prior to the event.

Once you have applied, please do keep an eye on your emails (and remember to check your junk folder) to see if you have been successful. If you are lucky enough to secure a place, you will be asked to pay a suggested donation (as a guide, people usually donate £30-£50)
