Jump into January
Right now, Ashgate Hospice is calling for the urgent support of the community, as the charity faces another difficult winter due to an increase in COVID-19 cases and winter flu.
The hospice is asking for support from the community and local businesses to get through the difficult months ahead – ensuring the hospice can continue to provide compassionate end of life care at a crucial time and support the wider health system as it did last year.
What is Jump into January?
Jump into January is a virtual event that will launch on 1st January 2022. We are asking you to go the distance to help raise vital funds for Ashgate Hospice at a crucial time. Walk, run or cycle* your way into 2022 and get others involved too. Jump into January is fun for all the family!
So, why don’t you grab your trainers, get some of your friends and family onboard, and all go the distance in support of Ashgate Hospice? Sign up here.
*Other activities can also be logged and included in the challenge. See FAQ’s for more information.
How do I track my activity?
Once you have registered, click through to your online fundraising page, where you will be able to link your Strava account to track your activity from 24th November. Or, if you don’t want to use Strava, you can manually add activity to your fundraising page (don’t worry – the registration process will guide you through this!)
Why we need your support
We rely on the generosity of our community to raise millions of pounds each year to help fund our specialist care. This matters even more throughout the difficult Winter period. So, please sign up today and start sharing your fundraising page and letting people know about the exciting challenge that you are doing in support of the hospice. In addition to your fundraising page, if you would like to up your fundraising game even more, we have come up with various different ideas to help you raise vital funds for Ashgate Hospice. Please click here for more information. Every £1 raised will make a huge difference. So, thank you for your support. We wouldn’t be here without it.
Our easy, simple registration process will guide you through creating your Jump into January account and linking a Strava account if you wish to so you can track your distance throughout the challenge. If you have any issues setting up your account, please get in touch via events@ashgatehospice.org.uk
Everyone! Similar to our Virtual Sparkle Night, anybody that wants to take on the challenge is able to. Get the whole family involved to support Ashgate Hospice and take on an activity throughout January that sets you up for the New Year and is a challenge for your abilities.
Any age, however, we are asking anybody that is under the age of 17 to gain permission from their parent/guardian.
Yes, of course, the more the merrier! Please feel free to join at any time throughout the challenge, and help us to get through the difficult months ahead.
There is no minimum sponsorship amount, but we’d encourage you to set yourself a target to add to your challenge. You will be helping to ensure that the hospice can continue to provide compassionate end of life care at a crucial time, and support the wider health system as it did last year.
All sponsorship money must be received by Ashgate Hospice by Tuesday 8th March 2022. If you have set up an online fundraising page, the sponsorship money that you have raised will automatically be sent to us, so you don’t need to do anything. If you have collected any offline sponsorship money, please pay it on online where possible or call us on 01246 567250 to pay it in over the phone. Alternatively, you can bring it into the Hospice, but please do pay it in online or over the phone where you can.
Absolutely! You’ll be able to see how you compare to your teammates and everyone else on your profile page.
To get involved, set yourself a target distance and then walk, run or cycle* it throughout January. As long as you use Strava to track your activity or log it later (don’t worry – the registration process will guide you through this!) the choice is yours. Please note that Strava can only track distance and not steps, so any activity that you do, you must cover a distance in order for it to be logged.
*Other activities can also be logged and included in the challenge.
Yes, if you have another preferred activity that you would like to do, providing you are going a distance and it’s a feature on Strava, you can include it in your challenge. Alternatively, you can manually add any completed activity to your page.
No, it’s free entry for this event. Yes, that’s not a problem at all. You can manually add activities to your fundraising page instead of linking a Strava account to your profile.
