Thank you for taking part and doing something amazing for Ashgate Hospice.

Entry is now closed and over 3,100 of you are set to take to the streets of Chesterfield in what will be our biggest ever Sparkle Night Walk!

We know lots of you have already been fundraising but there is still chance to smash our fundraising target, the easiest way to do this is by setting up a Just Giving page.

Here’s some information to help you on the night.

What do I need to bring with me?

Please remember to wear your t-shirt and attach your walker number to the front or back of your t-shirt.

What time can I arrive?

We are welcoming walkers to the Chesterfield Football Club Stadium from 7.30pm, the stage show gets underway straight away and there is lots to see and do before the walk sets off at 10pm.

Head to the Glitter Station to get Sparkle ready or our merchandise stall to grab some bits that will help you light up the night!

Please arrive by 9.30pm at the latest, you don’t want to miss the Zumba warm up!

How do I get to the Chesterfield Football Club Stadium?

Some roads are closed and diversions are in place so please allow additional time to travel. You can find information on road closures here  

By Public Transport  

We’re encouraging as many people as possible to use Public Transport to travel to the Chesterfield Football Club Stadium, did you know you can get around for just £2?

Drop off Zone 

Parking is limited at the Chesterfield Football Stadium so we’re asking as many people as possible to get dropped off.  

The Glass Yard have created a dedicated drop off zone in their car park which is just across the road from Chesterfield Football Club’s Stadium. So call in a favour from family or friends or pre-book your taxi .

Car Share  

Get the gang together and help us reduce the amount of cars travelling to the Technique Stadium by car sharing with your friends and family. 

 

Parking  

Parking is extremely limited so we are asking everyone to travel by other means where possible.  

You can park free of charge at the Chesterfield Football Club Stadium and Asda/Iceland have kindly said you can use their car park which is just a short walk away. We cannot guarantee there is enough parking for everyone attending so please consider other options where possible.  

Can I bring a bag?

Please think about what you need to bring with you, if you don’t need a bag then please don’t bring one. Our security team will be conducting a bag search upon arrival at the Event Village.  

Are dogs able to come along on the night?

Sorry, no dogs except Guide Dogs are permitted at this event due to the large amount of people expected to attend, fireworks, loud music and entertainment.

Will there be refreshments be available?

Chester’s Den will be open before the walk starts selling a range of hot drinks,  snacks and soft drinks.  

When the walk gets underway you’ll be able to pick up bottled water, bananas and mars bars from our halfway point and we’ll be cheering you back over the finish line before handing you a hot drink and bacon sandwich (vegetarian alternatives are available), cold drinks available to purchase.  

What if I haven’t collected my walker number or t-shirt?

T-shirt and walker numbers are available to collect at our final collection day on Thursday 29 June at our Fundraising Hub, Unit 15 Storforth Lane Trading Estate, Hasland, Chesterfield, S41 0QD between 9am and 6pm. After this time you can collect them from the help desk at the Event Village.  

What do I do if I have lost my walker number?

Everyone taking part in the walk needs to have a walker number attached to the front or back of their t-shirt. If you have lost yours then please head to the help desk at the Event Village. 

Do I bring my sponsorship money on the night?
Please do not bring along your sponsor money on the night.

We are thankful to each and every one of you that fundraises for us, and we kindly ask that you bring any sponsor money in after the event. There are several options of how you can do this, they are the following:   

  •  Pay it in online at https://www.ashgatehospice.org.uk/donation/ 
  • Bring it to our Fundraising Hub – Ashgate Hospice Fundraising Hub, Unit 15, Storforth Lane Trading Estate, Hasland, Chesterfield, Derbyshire S41 0QQ (Open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm)  
  • Take it to Ashgate Hospice, Ashgate Road, Old Brampton, Chesterfield, S42 7JD  
  • Take it to one of our shops to pay in, you can find out where they are here   

 If you are paying in your sponsor money in person, please bring your sponsor form(s) along with you. If you are paying in your sponsor money online, please ensure that you send any sponsorship forms to us so that we can claim Gift Aid on your donations. Gift Aid is an extra 25p on every pound you give, helping your donation go further. You can send your sponsorship forms to us via post to Fundraising, Ashgate Hospice, Ashgate Road, Old Brampton, Chesterfield, S42 7JD.   

Everyone that raises over £80 and pays in their sponsorship money by Monday 31st July will be in with a chance of winning one of our Sparkle prizes!   

Is there anything else I need to know?

On the night you are doing something amazing, you’re walking 10km across Chesterfield to raise for our patients and their families but please make sure you are looking after yourselves aswell.  

Make sure you fuel up before the walk by eating a good meal and drinking plenty of fluids.  

Please don’t take part in the walk if you feel unwell or unable to complete the route.  

The route is well marshalled and first aid assistance is available if required, please speak to one of our team should you need any support. 

Some roads are closed but other remain open, please keep an eye out for signage, follow the advice of our marshals and be aware and considerate to other road/footpath users.
