Volunteer Community Champion

What will a Community Champion do?

• Planning & hosting small events such as coffee mornings and bake sales
• Encouraging local shops and pubs to display our collection tins and support the hospice in different ways
• Help develop awareness in the community of the Hospice and its events and services
• Encouraging organisations to display posters for our flagship events and initiatives
• Help at fundraising events and distribute leaflets about these events in the local community
• Collect and co-ordinate local collection tins in local businesses and at other organisations

What kind of people are we looking for?

Although you don’t need to have previous experience of a similar volunteering role within a charity, ideally you will have the following:

• Good communication skills, someone that is friendly, sociable & reliable
• Is compassionate and empathetic
• Enthusiasm and passionate about the work of Ashgate Hospice
• Ability to lift and carry collection tins
• Own transport
• Is well presented and over 17 years old

What we will provide

• Full training and support for you to carry out the role

• Any equipment and promotional material you would need

Why volunteer with us?

Our volunteers tell us that volunteering is fun and rewarding and helps them meet new people. But most importantly you are an ambassador for Ashgate Hospice. Many of our volunteers know someone who has been cared for in the hospice or supported by Ashgate in their own home. With your help, we can continue to care for patients and their loved ones across North Derbyshire, in the hospice and in their own homes so thank you in anticipation of your support!
