Ashgate Hospice > Visiting the hospice

10th May 2023

We are pleased to announce that mask-wearing on the Inpatient Unit has changed from mandatory to optional. This decision follows a prolonged period where no instances of COVID have been reported on the ward.

As before, we do ask you to avoid visiting if you are unwell or have any symptoms of COVID. Transmissible viruses such as flu, other respiratory viruses and norovirus can be just as dangerous to our patients as COVID. We ask that you do not visit until forty eight hours after you feel better.

We are also continuing to practice good hygiene and ask all visitors to continue to wash their hands and/or use the hand sanitiser regularly while in the hospice.

Here at Ashgate, we have not had a single outbreak of COVID throughout the pandemic. This is thanks to our patients, their families, excellent staff, and volunteers who have supported and adhered to our guidance measures.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your cooperation and support over the last three years, we know that it hasn’t always been easy.
