But there is one more great reason our staff and volunteers love Ashgate Hospice: our idyllic location. With rolling hills and beautiful views, our Inpatient Unit is in the leafy suburb of Old Brampton in Chesterfield, offering patients, their families and our staff and volunteers a tranquil and comfortable environment.
Just a stone’s throw away from the picturesque countryside, North Derbyshire offers those who live and work here a wealth of benefits. From friendly village communities to the stunning Peak District right in our back garden to an array of landmarks like Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall – this county has so much to offer.
Our Inpatient Unit is situated in Old Brampton, Chesterfield, just down the road from the stunning Chatsworth Estate, home to our President, the Duke of Devonshire. In addition, we care for families and receive support from shoppers and fundraisers all over North Derbyshire and in the High Peak.
From Whaley Bridge in the west of the district all the way to Shirebrook in the east – our community Specialist Palliative Care Nurses make thousands of visits to families in their homes every year.
And our network of 18 shops and coffee shops help raise vital funds in the likes of Bakewell in the Peak District to Killamarsh on the border of Yorkshire all year round.
Much of the beautiful Peak District lies here in North Derbyshire, right on our doorstep. You might call us biased but it really is one of the most unique and stunning locations in the UK!
We asked some of our staff what they loved most about living and working in North Derbyshire. Here’s what they had to say.
If the hustle and bustle of busy towns and cities is your thing, there are plenty of options to choose from just a short distance away.
Thank you to our volunteer and professional photographer, Tom Hodgson, for his stunning photos of the Peak District.
